Hydroxyapatite (HA) Ca10 (PO4) 6 (OH) 2 is complete chemical and crystal-chemical analogue of mineral substance of mammals bone specifying the unique biological properties of HA: absolute immune compatibility and bioactivity - the ability to stimulate osseogenesis, to knit with bone, to serve as building blocks for bone synthesis and go to make up bone tissue succenturiating the implant made of HA.
β-tricaleium phosphate (β-TCP) β-Ca3(PO4)2 is complete chemical analogue of mineral substance. Also it has absolute biocompatibility, but due to inconsistency of crystal structure and extended solubility in comparison with HA, it resorbs faster in the body.
It is the most popular two-phase HA and TCP-based ceramic by creating a gradient structure of the implant when interacting with the physiological environment. When dissolving more soluble phase of TCP the HA frame is stored, simultaneously its porosity increases leading to the increase of contacting area with the bone cells. This process improves the regeneration of bone tissue.
“Biomin” pulvis and granules are used in dentistry and orthopedics to remove bone defects, activation of reparative processes and prevention of postoperative bone atrophy.

All of the above material grades are differ in chemical composition and structure leading to changes in the rate of resorption in the body and in the nature of biological interactions.
Materials of Biomin HSa, Biomin TSa, Biomin HTSa brand have aseptic effect and can be used in purulent surgery.
Biomin T interacts with bone tissue faster than other types, but it resorbs quickly. When filling large defects the rate of resorption should be coordinated with the rate of reparation.
Silicon alloyed material strengthens reparative processes due to the synergistic effect of silicon and calcium ions on bone cells activity.
The smaller material particle size, the faster the interaction with the bone tissue, but further process of bone tissue regeneration is on the periphery of implant material because induration of particles between themselves prevents ingrowth of connective tissue. Large porous granules grow faster over the entire volume of material by regenerate, but it is inconvenient to use them in small defects, moreover, they are less active in the interaction with bone tissue.
Pulvis and granules of small size are recommended for filling cavities of 1-2 cm3,
When filling cavities of 2-10 cm3 it is recommended to use granules from 1 to 3 mm,
When filling more than 10 cm3 it is recommended to use granules of more than 3 mm.
Mixing of granules of different size will allow us to receive optimum germination of regenerate.
All types of material are easily sterilized by steam and air methods. Biomin does not change its properties under repeated sterilization. In water it is insoluble. It is resistant from -50 to +850°C. Shelf life: 5 years from the manufactured date.
